The Congress of Holy Childhood Animators of the Archdiocese of Mbeya was held from 25-27 September 2026 at St. Anthony of Padua Parish. The Congress was conducted by Fr. Exavery Mafwimbo, Director of the Pontifical Missionary Societies (PMS) in the Archdiocese of Mbeya.
The Congress brought together two lay animators from each parish and one religious, with a total of 79 participants. It aimed to strengthen animators in their missionary responsibility of accompanying children, nurturing their faith, and promoting the missionary spirit of Holy Childhood.
Four main topics were addressed during the Congress: The Missionary Church; The Role and Responsibility of Animators; Preparation for the Sixth National Congress to be held in Kigoma; and The Matema Visit.
The Congress provided a valuable opportunity for animators to come together, receive formation, share experiences, and reflect on their ministry. The sessions enabled participants to evaluate their missionary responsibility, deepen their understanding of their role in the formation of children, and renew their strength, commitment and enthusiasm to continue faithfully carrying out the mission entrusted to them by the Church, particularly in the Archdiocese of Mbeya.
Overall, the Congress was a fruitful and enriching experience. It strengthened unity among the animators and renewed their motivation to continue promoting the mission of Holy Childhood, while helping children to grow in faith and embrace their own missionary vocation within the family, the Church and society.
